Process
Application Process

Ready to apply? Everything you need to know about applying to join the Barnegat Fire Company is outlined below:

  • Step 1

    Complete the online application

  • Step 2

    A Member of the Recruitment Division will contact you to arrange a phone interview and then an in-person meeting.

  • Step 3

    Pass a Criminal Background Check administered by the Barnegat Police Department

  • Step 4

    Complete Physical Examination by a Licensed NJ Physician or Healthcare Provider

  • Step 5

    Receive Municipal Approval from the Barnegat Township Committee for Probationary Membership in the Barnegat Fire Company

  • Step 6

    Non-certified probationary firefighters are required to enroll in the Ocean County Fire Academy and complete New Jersey firefighter 1 certification within 12 months of acceptance in the Barnegat Fire Company.

  • Minimum Age 18 Years Old
  • No Criminal Background
  • Good Physical and Mental Condition
  • Ability to Respond to Emergency Incidents
  • Ability to Attend and Participate in Company Meetings / Training / Drills
  • Ability to Participate in Fundraising Events
